About Us - Sorensen Systems LLC

Sorensen Systems LLC is a privately-held company, which is one of three subsidiaries of THG Corporation, a Massachusetts corporation founded in 1933 by the Rhoten family. Today, the Sorensen Systems company operates as the engineering and manufacturing arm of THG Corporation and its other two subsidiaries, The Hope Group LLC and Hope Air Systems LLC. It focuses on the water and waste water industry, the power generation industry and the motion and control and machine control systems marketplace. Its staff of design engineers, technicians and project managers operates from its 60,000 sq ft office and manufacturing location in Northborough, MA.

Association with Parker

Sorensen Systems, as a subsidiary of THG Corporation, is affiliated with The Hope Group, which is an authorized distributor of Parker Hannifin; and for the past 50 years has been a leading provider of fluid power and fluid connector components and sub-systems for the industrial OEM and MRO marketplace in the six New England states. It operates six ParkerStores, with three in Maine, and one each in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Association with Kaeser

The other subsidiary of THG Corporation is Hope Air Systems, which has operated as a distributor and custom manufacturer of packaged compressed air systems for the past 50 years. Originally a division of The Hope Group, today it operates as a separate company under the THG Corporation umbrella. Hope Air Systems is an authorized distributor of Kaeser rotary compressors. It serves the entire six state New England market. It also sells PET packaged air compressor systems worldwide. Sorensen Systems is the design/build entity that produces these packages for Hope Air Systems.

Sorensen Governor Brand

Sorensen Systems was founded 25 years ago with the acquisition of the Sorensen Governor brand and immediately became focused on the hydroelectric power industry in New England and for certain applications throughout the world. Today, with representation in the US and Canada, the company continues its expansion into the power generation marketplace. The Sorensen Governor brand is well known throughout the world and its products serve the needs of water and waste water facilities.

Power Generation Market

Sorensen System's primary direct market penetration has been in the hydroelectric power plant market with new installation, refurbishment and station automation as its prime opportunity. With nearly 200 major power plants in New England, the combustion turbine, combined cycle, fossil fuel and nuclear power plants represent an important marketplace for Sorensen Systems. Additionally, it has focused on the engineered system requirements of the emerging motion and control requirements in the semiconductor, pulp & paper, marine, life science, defense and thermal power generation industries.

System Solutions Philosophy

Operating as the engineering and fabrication arm of THG Corporation, Sorensen Systems has an exclusive focus on system design/build. It does not inventory parts, replace or repair components or otherwise operate in the MRO role, which is handled by its associated company, The Hope Group. Rather, it serves as a provider of design/build services to The Hope Group and Hope Air Systems as needed and takes it services directly to the market for the thermal and hydro power generation market, water and waste water distribution market and general motion and control systems for defense, semiconductor, life science and other industrial markets.
